BECOME A VOLUNTEER – GET INVOLVED
Volunteering in sport is more than just giving back; it’s a chance to connect with your community, make a real difference to people’s lives and help them discover their love for sports, such as tennis.
Over 25,000 people choose to volunteer in tennis across Britain at a local, county, regional and/or national level, with more and more people helping to grow our sport and open it up to communities across the country.
There are countless ways you can get involved too, whether you play tennis or not. From supporting your local courts to volunteering at one of our professional tournaments, there’s a role to suit you and your lifestyle.
WHY BECOME A TENNIS VOLUNTEER?
- Make a difference in your community
- Have your say and influence how your club or venue is run
- Develop new interpersonal skills
- Make new friends
- Benefit your mental wellbeing
VOLUNTEERING AT YOUR LOCAL CLUB OR COURTS
Volunteers are the heart and soul of grassroots tennis, with most venues relying on their contributions to ensure more people, regardless of age, ability, or background, can get involved in the sport.
Volunteering at your local venue not only makes a meaningful impact on others but also allows you to have a say in how the venue operates. It’s a fantastic way to develop new skills, create lifelong friendships, and become an integral part of the tennis community.
You don’t need to be a tennis player to get involved. There are many roles to suit different skills and interests, from committee positions like chair, secretary, treasurer, welfare officer, and competition organiser to practical roles like groundsperson or IT/web support. You can also help informally with competitions, events, or open days—there’s no shortage of ways to contribute.
If you’re already a member of a venue, reach out to a committee member to explore how you can help. If you’re not yet a member, use the tool below to find your nearest venue and get in touch to get started.
