Alex Otterburn

In his first professional season Alex Otterburn garnered unanimous critical acclaim in numerous roles. From Eddy in Mark-Anthony Turnage’s Greek at the Edinburgh International Festival, Harlequin in Ariadne auf Naxos for Scottish Opera and Opera Holland Park, to Pallante in Agrippina at the Grange Festival, Alex distinguished himself as a young artist with phenomenal versatility.

A former Scottish Opera Emerging Artist, this season Alex joins English National Opera as a Harewood Artist making his mainstage debut as Squibby in Iain Bell’s new opera Jack the Ripper conducted by Martyn Brabbins. Elsewhere Alex takes his celebrated portrayal of Eddy in Greek to the Brooklyn Academy of Arts, marking his US operatic debut, as well as making his debut at Opera North as Cascada in Giles Havergal’s production of The Merry Widow under Martin André. In concert he returns to the Edinburgh International Festival for Bernstein’s Arias and Barcarolles, accompanied by James Baillieu and Philip Moore.
