Coaching and Volunteering Manager

Steve brings a wealth of skills and experience to the position from both an on-court and off-court perspective. Prior roles include managing Community Indoor Tennis Centres, Padel Venues and park sites, to on-court delivery as county captain through all ages in Wiltshire Tennis, head coach of the LPDC at Delta Tennis Centre. Steve also has extensive experience developing players across the pathway from participation to performance.

Steve plays a crucial role in developing the next generation of coaches and volunteers to help us further the growth of the sport in Wales, whilst ensuring our existing coaches continue to receive excellent CPD opportunities and bespoke support to help them deliver quality tennis and Padel coaching across Wales


Mark Lewis

Tennis Wales Competitions & Events Manager
Level 3 Club Coach & Referee

Mark leads on the overall Competition plan across Wales. He has close to 30 years of experience in Tennis Competitions both as a player, parent, organiser and official. He also has over 20 years’ experience in tennis coaching and has worked for Tennis Wales for over 10 years in various roles including Development, Participation, Safeguarding & Equality and as a tutor. Mark is dedicated to providing appropriate competition for players of all ages and abilities, working closely with the LTA and Tennis Wales Performance Manager. Mark is committed to growing, developing and supporting officials across Wales to get more people playing and enjoying tennis more often.


Tom Langley

Coach Development Centre Administrator

Tom brings his knowledge and experience to the position from his degree in Sports Business and from prior roles within other sporting environments as well as a variation of business roles.

Tom plays a crucial role in the operational administration of our courses, to help develop the next generation of coaches and volunteers. Tom is the main point of contact for candidates on our courses and will be the person who sends you vital course information pre, during and post course.



Becca Strelzyn

LTA Tutor & Level 5 Master Performance Coach

With over 20 years experience as a coach and almost 10 years as a tutor Becca is well versed in delivering high standard coaching qualifications, workshops and forums. Becca’s coaching philosophy is tailored to the individual, creating challenging and engaging learning environments. Her coaching skills, along with her extensive knowledge of the game and individualised approach mean that she an excellent coach developer.

Becca has a considerable coaching background in player development. She has worked consistently with GB & Welsh National players over the last 20 years. Her background in player development has focused primarily on the 9-14 age group and she has experience across many areas of coaching. Her continued success within coaching and developing players was formally recognised in 2015 where she won Tennis Wales Performance Coach of the year.

Becca is a qualified LTA Mentor and prioritises not only developing others but also importantly developing herself, constantly seeking out knowledge and expertise. This places Becca on the cutting edge of not just her own coaching but also coach development and mentoring.

Rob Cunningham

LTA Tutor & Level 5 Master Club Coach

Rob has over 18 years’ experience in a Head Tennis Coach role. Rob first became qualified as a tennis coach back in 1999 shortly before moving to Wales where he took his first head coach position in 2002. Rob was the first coach in Wales to achieve the Level 5 Master Club Coach Award and, along with this achievement, became director and founder of Vale Tennis Academy Limited. Rob and VTA’s coaching team have a passion for helping transform tennis venues into busy places to play tennis with quality tennis facilities and access to high quality tennis programmes. In 2008 Rob became qualified as a tutor and in 2011 qualified as an LTA Coach Educator and Assessor. Since then Rob has delivered coach education programmes, qualifications and CPD courses for Tennis Wales, Inspire2Coach and The LTA. Most recently Rob has been selected as one of the tutors to roll out The LTA’s new LTA Youth Programme.

In his spare time Rob is a keen tennis player. He still plays for his local team Penarth LTC and holds the club’s record for the most Men’s Singles titles and the most consecutive singles titles won. Both records previously stood for over 100 years! His other playing highlights include representing South Wales for 5 years in the County O35s Veterans team and in 2019 he had the honour of playing for Wales in the O35s Home Nations.

Lucy Scott

LTA Tutor & Level 4 Senior Performance Coach

Lucy has been involved in tennis for over 20 years, having started as a junior and competed for Wales and North Wales at both junior and senior age groups, and the GB Universities student team.

Lucy is a Level 4 coach and coach education tutor, and is currently North Wales County captain for the U10, U11 and U12 girls teams. Lucy has been delivering coach education courses for over 5 years having completed the tutoring course in 2015, and has delivered on a wide range on courses since for different providers. Lucy is also a member of the Tennis Wales Board and North Wales committee.

Lucy currently works as Chief Executive of the Welsh Judo Association since September 2022. Lucy was previously the General Manager at Wrexham Tennis Centre and prior to that was the Head Tennis Coach and Manager at Durham University.

Lucy received a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication from the University of New Mexico where she attended on a full tennis scholarship and later received a Masters in Marketing from Durham University.

Vicki Broadbent

LTA Tutor & Level 4 Senior Development Coach

Vicki has over 20 years experience working as a Level 4 coach in North Wales. Vicki has run successful club programmes that benefit the whole community. Vicki’s coaching philosophy is for everyone that joins her on the tennis court to fulfil their potential and aspirations. Vicki was Welsh coach of the year in 2009 and is a qualified tutor who has been delivering teacher training, level 1 and 2 courses across North Wales for several years.

Vicki has a huge amount of experience managing individual players programmes, including goal setting, scheduling of tournaments and annual planning. Vicki manages and mentors coaches and also works with several different committees to further tennis development at all levels in Wales.

Vicki has also represented Wales internationally as a player at junior, adult and senior level tennis.


Becca Strezlyn

Current Role

  • As a full-time coach Becca works with players from county to national level aged 8-14yrs.
  • A qualified LTA tutor that delivers qualifications and CPD across the UK.
  • Becca supports Tennis Wales in our delivery of the performance strategy through involvement in Welsh national training camps and county pathway support.

Previous Role(s) and Experience

  • Previously Head Performance Coach in two LTA Accredited performance venues. Leading on an interdisciplinary approach to player development and managing the performance programme. Becca has extensive experience in player development in the 8- 14yrs age group, working with many players to national level.
  • As Tennis Wales’ 12U Pathway Manager, Becca had a key role in talent recruitment and development of our youngest age groups.
  • With a passion for coaching emerging from a junior county level playing background, Becca continues to play county tennis for South Wales and has represented Wales in the O35s age group in 2019.

Qualifications and Training

  • LTA Level 5 Performance Qualification.
  • CTS Qualified Tutor.
  • EMCC / LTA Accredited Mentor.
  • Part of a small group of tutors delivering the coach training for the LTA Youth programme launch in 2020. This included having the opportunity to present at the Tennis Wales Coaches Conference the same year.

Ellie Lewis

Specialisms – Environment Specific Specialist / Communication and Stakeholder Influencings / Population Specific Specialist

Current Role

  • Director at Tennis Squad, Player Support and Performance at Tennis Wales.
  • In this I am responsible for the development and support of workforce, including coaches, tennis activators and volunteers working in tennis venues.

Previous Role(s) and Experience

  • Ellie has extensive experience in developing people, relationships and enhancing stakeholder communication in the tennis industry.

Qualifications and Training

  • A degree in Sports Development from UWIC.

Ellinore Lightbody

Specialisms – Population Specific Specialist

Current Role

  • Ellinore is a National Pathways Coach in Scotland.
  • Establish programmes (training and competitive) for players 10 – 14’s.
  • Deliver squads and camps for National Players. Coordinate trips to competition – domestic and international.
  • Ellinore communicates with players, parents and individual coaches and focuses on the all-round development of individuals.
  • Works within selection processes, reporting, goal setting, planning schedules and budgeting.

Previous Role(s) and Experience

  • Played professional tennis for 3 years and has a WTA ranking of 181 following a teaching (PE) degree.
  • Competed at Wimbledon MD, French and US Open Qual.
  • Managed the Hong Kong junior programme captaining the World Youth Cup and Junior National Teams.
  • ITF World Touring Team with junior Grand Slam success.
  • National Coach Roles for British Tennis, Tennis Wales and Tennis Scotland.
  • Worked with many coaches supporting the development of players and building winning GB teams, progressing to the World Cup Finals on 3 occasions.
  • On court captain at many competitions working and developing ways of coaching and communicating to create an enjoyable learning environment that brings success.

Qualifications and Training

  • Degree Human Movement Studies and Geography as a PE Teacher.
  • Level 5 Master Performance Coach.
  • Presented at Tennis Europe AGM and conference, Japan TA coaches forum, and Tennis Wales, Scotland and LTA South West Coaches conferences.

Robert Wedlake

Specialisms – IT and Business Management Systems / Business Growth and Programming Strategy

Current Role

  • Level 4 Senior Performance Coach
  • Codirector of Tennis Squad; a coaching, competition and consultancy organisation inSouth Wales. Programmes operate at 7 sites including parks, clubs and an indoor centre.
  • Role involves providing the vision, nurturing the workforce, developing club relationships and managing business processes.
  • Coaching players across the club spectrum.

Previous Role(s) and Experience

  • Experience in the IT industry as a project manager for a web solutions franchise operator, and as a freelance consultant.
  • Fast-tracked to Level 4 coach.
  • Driven sustained programme growth in South East/South Central Wales – supporting membership growth, facility development and extending the player pathway.
  • County Development Coach 14-18U Boys.
  • Club Coach for players who have progressed to Tennis Europe / College Tennis.
  • Manager of a competition programme ranging from Junior Team Challenge events to Tier 1 British Tour.
  • Chair of a specialist club supporting players with a learning disability or visual impairment.
  • Operator of Wales’ first Padel facility.
