Job Description – Tennis / Sports Coach

This is an exciting opportunity for a newly qualified Tennis / sports Coach or Coach in training to develop and learn with the opportunity to become full time.

Initially the role will be working side by side with the Head of coaching to understand the delivery system and to deliver effective sessions to the clients on the sessions.

Following the introductory period, the Coach will need to be available between the hours of 4-7pm and ready to deliver sessions by themselves at different venues in North Wales.

In addition to the standard Tennis delivery the coach will be responsible for organising multi-sport sessions and fun activity sessions working for our partner programs. This will include additional training and opens a much wider earning potential.

The successful candidate will start with an initial 8 hours and can develop the work to full time if they wish and introduce a range of group and individual lesson options into the typical working week alongside sports activity sessions.

The role will include:

  • Delivering group sessions to Juniors and Adults
  • Running school based sessions at all school ages
  • To deliver sports sessions to a range of people from the local community
  • Drive new initiatives to increase tennis participation
  • Be available for school holiday activities
  • To support up and coming juniors with 121 hitting sessions
  • Support the competition co-ordinator run matchplay, tournaments and competitions
  • Complete registers on time and consistently
  • Respond to client requests and involve others if needed to answer questions
  • Create great relationships with a range of venues and their management groups
  • Be available to attend weekly team meetings with the Head of coaching to develop the work program going forward

L2 Tennis CoachDavid Lloyd Cardiff

David Lloyd Cardiff is looking to expand our blue tennis groups for 3 and 4 year olds. We currently have approx. 40 children of this age on the programme who progress into red tennis at the age of 5.

If you are a L2 coach who is a child at heart or a parent or have primary teaching experience we would love to hear from you. Roughly 8hrs a week and could be employed or self-employed.

Lead Tennis CoachCardiff Met University

The Lead Tennis Coach will take responsibility for the delivery of Cardiff Met Tennis’ junior and community coaching programmes. Working with the Head of Tennis and supported by assistant coaches, the Lead Tennis Coach will ensure an efficient and professional coaching service to delivered. The Lead Tennis Coach will have a mix of responsibilities including delivery of coaching sessions through term time and holiday camps, as well as assisting the Head of Tennis with administrative responsibilities:

  • Deliver Cardiff Met junior, schools, and community coaching programmes.
  • Act as lead coach for tennis sessions for children age 4–18 ensuring that comprehensive teaching plans have been prepared and delivered in according with the LTA Youth principals.
  • Assist Head of Tennis with administration duties required to undertake the junior, schools, and community coaching programmes
  • Manage the registration, assessment and progress of each player under their supervision
  • Coordinate assistant tennis coaches, students and volunteers working on the junior, schools, and community tennis coaching programmes

What we are looking for

  • LTA Level 3 qualified Coach or higher
  • Experience of delivering tennis coaching in a professional environment
  • Experience of working with booking systems and administrative duties
  • Understand how to influence and manage stakeholders that support the coaching process
  • Experience of working in a customer focussed environment
  • Experience of leading LTA initiatives
